I’ve learned the words of this poem are so very true. It’s what you THINK that matters.
In pre-Columbus days it was ‘thought’ the earth was flat. When did the earth become round? Personally, I believe it was always round. Yet, because of thinking the earth was flat people FEARED – they were afraid it was possible to reach the edge and simply fall off.
Today it’s easy for us to laugh at such a bizarre way of thinking because we have a different perspective. A change in perspective is often required for us to become aware of TRUTH.
So, what are you thinking? Do you think YOU CAN, or do you fear you can’t? Do you believe success is possible? Or do you think you’re going to fail before you even begin?
Ask 10 different people their thoughts on any one subject and you’ll get 10 different perspectives. Each perspective is the correct perspective for the individual having that opinion, or belief, (like those who thought the earth was flat, that was ‘the way it is’ for them) but no one perspective is correct for all.
Again I ask, what is your perspective? Do you think YOU CAN, or do you fear you can’t? Do you believe success is possible? Or do you think you’re going to fail before you even begin?
Personally, I hold to the words, ‘All things are possible.’ All things become possible when you ‘think’ they are.
The Man Who Thinks He Can
by: Walter D. Wintle
If you think you are beaten, you are;
If you think you dare not, you don’t.
If you’d like to win, but think you can’t
It’s almost a cinch you won’t.
If you think you’ll lose, you’ve lost,
For out in the world we find
Success belongs with a fellow’s will;
It’s all in the state of mind.
If you think you’re outclassed, you are:
You’ve got to think high to rise.
You’ve got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.
Life’s battles don’t always go
To the stronger or faster man
But soon or late the man who wins
Is the man WHO THINKS HE CAN.
